Why Hello Again :)
I know all of you have been sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for that next big blog post of mine. Ok, well maybe not edge of your seat, but I am hoping maybe you remembered I had a blog or if this is your first time reading my ramblings welcome aboard the crazy train I call my life. I love writing. It is a passion of mine, but like all things people are passionate about you have to feel inspired to do it. I was at Target (surprise, surprise) the other day and was looking at the book section. I saw a wide range of books from vampire romance, to self help books, or even a touching story about a dog with one ear. I thought instead of reading another novel it was time to pick back up the keyboard and start writing again. I would love to write a humorist book on life one day, but so far my published work includes analyzing the educational impact of the criminal justice system. So here I go back to internet writing until my big break comes ;) .....
The last year has been an adventure. I returned to stay-at home mommy-hood. Which I will hands down fully admit is the hardest job out there. I have said it before and will say it again, the best parent you will ever be is the one you are before having kids. Your confidence of having it all figured out will continually be tested by someone who knows better. Pretty sure I thought stay at home mom's had the "easy" life, before having kids. I would happily trade my 9-5 with co-workers that may or may not like me for the chance to be home feeling unconditional love. While all stay at home mom's have those amazing days/minutes that the world aligns and life is in joyful harmony, you also have those days where unlike wondering if Chuck from cubicle five doesn't like you because you weren't included on the morning Starbucks run you hear yelling from the bathroom door the world is coming to an end and it is your fault because you have forbidden a snowsuit in the dead heat of July, or being soaked in urine is no longer the weekend warrior party story from the Frat boy behind you in Pych101 it is now the reality of potty training your two year old. All that being said this has been an amazing experience with Isla. She is such a little person now and I love to watch her personality grow and make me a better person. Some how in life our DNA is made up to forget the hard times when it comes to our kids and only remember the good once you have made it to the other side. She has shown such strength this year with Joey gone, I hope she doesn't remember him being away, but I know she will have amazing relationships that started in OR over the last year and carry on for the rest of her life.
As I talk about the end of our Oregon year it is time to talk about the next chapter. You would think living in England, Missouri, Colorado, and Oregon in less than 10 years the "see you soon" would get easier, but the reality is it never does. I don't think anything really prepares you for the reset button being hit again and again on your life and moving on again. The closest thing to the "reset" button in my childhood before the military was in the 80's when Nintendo first came out and you would work for hours to get to the next level but right as you finally made it the machine would freeze and you would have to start all over. I guess like Mario, in military life you learn to do that "level" again and each time you do you just get better at it. In the next month we will do it all over again and head south to Southern California. I will spare you the details of the move because it will read more like a crazy "physiological experiment" involving a husband, wife, 3 year old, and 2 golden retrievers traveling cross country in hopes all of our belongings from 3 states will arrive at least partially intact. In addition surviving the one bedroom hotel together while we wait for a house to open up, my goal is to still write with an ounce of sanity along with it. In between packing/smuggling Isla's unneeded (yet becomes her favorite when she sees it leaving) items out of the house like a Mexican drug lord, I will update my blog as well to keep you updated on the latest and great.
