Things to be Thankful For

Oh Friday night how I have missed you. No wild plans or even anything that falls into the category exciting. My feet are kicked up, Isla is sleeping, Leo and Dee are relaxing, and Joey is catching up on game day info for tomorrow's big Duck game. A part of me feels like I have turned into the stereotypical "boring married person", but on the other hand a simpler life may lack excitement but it is my life and I could not ask for nothing more. I feel like so many times I have to provide myself with a reality check in order to remember all the important things in life and let go of the things that just don't matter. With September 11th tomorrow I remember how important it is to give thanks for each and everyday. It is so easy to get caught up in the "if I just had" more money, time, etc. but at the end of the day giving thanks for the small things makes it much easier to deal with the big things that can bring you down.

My List of Thanks for 9/10/10

1) Great Family & Friends: I am so thankful for all the people that support me, make me laugh, let me cry, and I know they will always be there for me no matter the places I will go.

2) Day's Off With Isla: My house was trashed when she went to sleep, but I am sure I have never heard anyone when they are grown thank their mom for a clean house while they were growing up. We had a fun day spending time together playing and laughing at each other. My house isn't a museum or a national monument, but at the end of the day the dishes are done and the laundry is clean and for now I would take that over a perfectly clean house and missing out on time with Isla.

3) The Wiggles: Talk about appreciating the small things in life, the Wiggles are a group of men from Australia that dance around and sing in Star Trek suits. If you know the lyrics toot toot chugga chugga big red car, I feel almost as bad for you as I do myself. However, in a sea of crazy lyrics these men give me the 20 minutes of freedom I need to get lunch ready for Isla during the day and I am thankful for that.

4) The Coffee Club at Work: On days after long nights and days that my caseload resembles a Jerry Springer episode my $5.00 per month of unlimited goodness is something to be thankful for.

5) A blog I can write my thought, people who read and listen, and more great writing topics yet to come.
