So today Isla had her 12 month appointment. Overall happy healthy baby girl that was able to fight off the nurse giving her shots like a black belt ninja. After all the not so fun stuff was done height, weight, shots, the doctor came back in to talk about Isla's eating habits. Isla is in the 80th percentile for height and only 10th percentile for weight. So we spent a good amount of time talking about Isla's new high calorie diet to help her gain weight. Everything seems fine, but they said it was more than likely just genetics (not from me haha). Joey has struggled most of his life to gain and ounce while me on the other hand I can look at a candy bar and be 10lbs heavier. So we go back again at 15 months for another weight check.
As Isla is now on a new high calorie diet, I feel like I need to start looking at my own weight more than ever. I have blogged before about working out and trying to drop that last bit of baby weight. Right before summer I worked really hard at getting back down to the point I was at when I went to my first doctor's appointment for Isla. I haven't blogged about it recently because 1) I haven't been dieting 2) I haven't had any weightloss 3) it would make me accountable to weight gain if I stepped on the scale. I made my goal then stopped, at the place I wanted to be and still about 30lbs short of my ideal weight. I don't feel like I am blogging about weightloss to make myself feel bad or anyone else feel like I am trying to attack anyone who could drop a few pounds. This is motivation for me. Putting out my thoughts, progress, and struggles makes me accountable to myself. I have my selfish reasons for wanting to lose weight, cute jeans (aka: sporting skinny jeans without it being an oxymoron), smaller waist, but behind all my own selfish reasons I have one reason above anything else to finally stick with my diet. My number one reason to make it work is Isla. I think my friend Allison put it best when she said the thought of not being around for our girls at the age we are now is enough to make anyone put down that cookie or extra snack and have a firm reality check on getting back to that point where I need to be. I had so much fun watching my mom this weekend race around with Isla and Amalie at warp speed and not even miss a beat. I am ready to make those changes I need for long term change. I think society in America makes it easy to accept being over weight. In a land where plus sizes run plentiful it is easy to get to a point where you don't realize how important it is to maintain a healthy weight.
So here is my plan of attack. One I am putting aside any thoughts of seven day a week gym workout's and carb free diets. Why? I don't want to set myself up to fail with a gym schedule that will make me feel like other aspects of my life are slipping while I am trying to get in shape, but loosing my mind. Then the next thing I know I will be writing about falling off the wagon and trying to start over again. As far as eating habits the fact that I live with two people who have the metabolism of gerbals I have to maintain healthy food that everyone in the house can eat, but watch my portion control. So now that you know what I am not going to do here is the plan. 1) commit to exercise three times per week this could be walking the neighborhood, workout video, anything active 2) maintain a healthy diet that re-incorporates my protein shakes for breakfast and following a healthy lunch and dinner. 3) give up soda. I don't drink soda often mostly if we go out to eat, or maybe two can per week, but by saying I will only drink soda when I am out is like an alcoholic only drinking on the weekends. 4) stay accountable. Wednesday will be my weigh in day and every week I will write about my progress and I won't stop until I obtain my goal.
So as of today I am Goal Weight+30lbs= where I am at now. By my last weightloss post I be able to eliminate the extra 30 and be right where I need to be. I could put off this mission until after halloween, the holiday's, etc, but I feel like if I put off starting now I will never start. So staring Monday I will start my last first day of my diet. Wish me luck, send skinny thoughts my way, or for all my super skinny friends eat something tasty in my honor :) Hold me accountable and don't let me fall off the wagon. Feel free to join me on this journey and I can't wait to report from the other side of the scale :)

I am going to try and keep little Abbie's face as my motivation to be a healthy mom. And no food tastes as good as the feeling of slipping into a size smaller jeans ;) My first goal is going to be losing 10 lbs, once I reach that I am treating myself to the massage gift certificate I got for my bday from mom and dad. Once I reach that, I will set another milestone for weight loss. Baby steps.
