So I am now starting week four of weight watchers. Total loss drum roll please............ 7.6lbs! Don't get me wrong I have been working hard, eating right, and incorporating lots of walking into my daily routine, and I am seeing results. I have never met anyone who stuck to the weight watchers program and didn't lose weight so that is encouraging to me. I don't want to be one of those people trying to push a diet aka: life style change, but I am here to say that it works. I remember reading other people's blogs when they talked about weightloss while I sat comfortably eating my afternoon snack thinking, "I will start my diet again tomorrow" then tomorrow came and you know the rest of the story. This weekend I actually was able to buy the smallest pants I have been able to wear since 2008! So I continue on another week. I am feeling better and I know I still have a long road to go. This week I earned a silver star for my first 5lbs. I felt like a first graders amongst all the other first graders. Waiting for the moment you are awarded with the star while all the other meeting members gave you either the you go girl look or the damn you I deserved that star look. People get older but jealousy over rewards never goes away.
So enough about weight watchers again this week. I promise when things slow down again I will start writing about things other than my battle of the bulge. Lately Isla is keeping us so busy. I think the first 6 months of your child's life is mentally exhausting while the following 6+ months if physically exhausting. I look back laughing at all the time I probably thought I was busy before Isla was mobile. Now she is all over the place and it is all I can do to not blink before she is across the room and attempting to ride Delilah into the sunset. I think toddlerhood is hard and I will be the first one to admit defeat at times. The days where I am going "Did I really just chase a butt naked toddler behind her crib and bait her back out with a cookie?" I guess in someway it makes me feel normal and gives other people reading this the reassurance that days you feel you are going to lose your mind are normal and it doesn't make you a bad mom or dad because everyone has those days. So many times parents will put up the front that everyday is sunshine and roses, then when other people have hard days they feel like they are doing something wrong or they are failing as a parent because everyone around them isn't having the same struggles. I guess I am here to say everyone no matter how perfect of a mom or dad has struggles most people just don't chose to share those battles. I have had so many friends have kids these last few months and I will never be that doomer (is that even a word) talking about everything horrible because no matter what the good times will always make the bad days go away in your mind, but I think it is important to offer support that behind all the cute pictures, smiles, and laugh, you will have meltdowns, and days you feel like your mind is gone, but just like the bad days every phase is a stage that will come and go and will make good stories to laugh about down the road ;)
