Joey and I went out on a date tonight. We enjoyed dinner and a little shopping alone just us. I remember seeing those couples when we use to go out to dinner before we had Isla. Happy and giddy people, and I always assumed they were newly dating couples, but now I know they were probably just parents who were out on one of very few and far between date nights. Enjoying a few hours together without all of life's other complicated aspects:) Even though I felt like I had a million reasons why we should just stay home tonight, I wanted to keep my promise Joey and I made last month to go out once a month and just be us. If I would have read this before I had Isla I would have wondered why going out for a few hours was something so complex as motivating yourself to go to the gym or start a diet? You know it is good for you, but for whatever reason you feel like other things need to come first. Don't get me wrong I am not comparing a fun night out to being the same as running 3 miles on a treadmill. I just think they both are things you know you need in your life in order to maintain balance, but they are easy to put at the bottom of your list.
Well of course "just being us" included conversation that included the 47 day countdown to Isla's birthday and me pulling out my I-Phone to show the latest cutest picture of Isla and then realizing that I now had 552 pictures documenting all my favorite moments over the last 10 months. Needless to say the night was great for us and I am excited for many more to come.
