It is now 3:00pm Friday, and this is the first time I have sat down all day. This morning I went to work only to find out that the juvi's of the Springs had been well behaved last night and I didn't have any new cases come in. So what does that mean for me? Early release :) Today is military payday so I thought that by getting to the commissary right when they opened it would be an uneventful day. I swear "Adventure's and Misgivings of the Commissary" could be a blog all in it's self. Well I was actually walking about 20 feet behind an elderly lady when another man pulling out of a handicap spot puts his car in reverse and comes within inches of hitting the woman. I walked to catch up to her and asked if she was ok. While the man (who was smoking a cigarette and trying to drink his coffee) gave the woman a wave that was a "hi neighbor" wave not a "hi I just almost killed you wave" then he drove off. I talked to the lady for a minute to make sure she was ok. She was a very nice woman and said I was one in 10,000 that would have stopped and cared. I don't know about 10,000, but I was one of probably five on-lookers that came to check on her. Compliments are always nice just usually they don't feel as good when it is at the fate of someone almost being ran down in a grocery store parking lot. I guess it doesn't matter if you believe in God, Karma, or Flowers I think I scored a star on the good deed side for my act today.
Well after leaping tall buildings and oh wait back to reality, I finished my shopping and ended up going home to unload before going to pick up Isla. I remember back to when it was just Joey and I and I would think it would take forever for me to clean the house myself. Sometimes I would take the whole day cleaning at a slow pace. Now I can tackle the house and have it done in less than 2 hours while by myself. Now when my little helper is home that is another story.
The car looking/buying process is still in full force. I think I realized why we tend to buy a car and keep it for extended periods of time (5+ years), so we don't have to deal with sales people. The process use to drive me crazy, but now with Isla it gives me even less of an ability to deal with haggle games. It seems like the qualities that would turn you off in the dating world are the same things that turn you off in the sales world. First, you have the over obsessive won't give you your space salesman. The one that hovers over your every move following you around trying to tell you how great they/the car is. Then you have the suck up. The one that over compliments, over laughs, and over loves your every move. Then the most annoying of all the let's play hard to get sales person. Well I don't know about your trade, or I'm just not sure if we can get that car in for you. I think the salesman thought I would say ok, Mr. salesman whatever you can do is fine with me. Nope, I said well thats fine there is another 30+ dealerships in town we can try. Then they change there tone as I walkout the door. In the days following you will get phone calls pleading for the second chance if you just come back and emails giving you special treatment. So needless to say the search is still on.
