God Bless Nice People

Today was one of those crazy afternoons. I was trying to run about a million errands all between morning nap and lunch. Well my second stop of the day was an amazing cupcake shop here in Colorado Springs. I was picking up cup cakes for our World Cup fiesta. Although I love the shop it is in an absolute horrible location for parking. I picked up a my cupcakes and was heading back out to the car with a half dozen cupcakes in one hand and Isla in the other. I tried to open my car door to put Isla in when this guy pulls up and puts his blinker on trying to rev his engine to get me to hurry up. Well in the heat of trying to get Isla into her seat, put the cupcakes away, hold down my super cute gypsy skirt that I will never wear in the Colorado wind, and get myself back in the car I drop 3 cupcakes. I am not talking about they fell and could be saved I am talking about all the yummy goodness hitting 90 degree concrete in an untimely death. At the point I saw them hit the ground I thought ok well maybe this is a sign no one at my party needed cupcakes and I just need to save face and drive away quickly. Well this lady in the shop came out and asked what kind had dropped and she was going to go replace them for me and bring them back. I couldn't believe what a nice lady she was. I got Isla put back in her seat and the lady came back with 3 nice brand new cupcakes. I said thank you so much and she said hey we all have been there and pointed to her two older kids about 10 and 8 inside.

I think needing help wether that be having kids, getting older, or physically needing assistance, it is similar to buying a new car. I never saw all the other blue jeep liberty's until I was driving a blue jeep liberty now they are everywhere. I think being in the position of needing help is very similar. You don't really see all the other people that could use an extra hand until you are in the position of needing that extra hand yourself. The random lady at the cupcake shop could have let me struggle and go on my way leaving my extra 1000 calories of party goodness on the concrete and not bat an eye, but for some reason she chose to help. I guess this made me realize that no matter how few times I have a free hand these days or can afford to park in the back of the lot and leave that close space for someone who really needs it I will. When you see the mom struggling with the door or a neighbor that may need that extra hand don't hesitate to act. I think we could all use a "Cupcake" lady in our lives every now and again.
